I have to say, this is one of the things I missed the most about “mommy blogging,” the fact that for many days of the week, you can find a linky or a meme that will get you off your butt and doing something around the house! I know it sounds awful, but when you are trying to make a full-time income while having the kids in your “office” every day, sometimes things fall apart. And by fall apart, I mean EF5 tornado level chaos ensues in the home!
Since I’m leaving town in 3 short days (EEK!) I really want to make sure that the house looks decent before I go. Since the kids will be at grandparents’ homes and hubs will be left to fend for himself, the house should be just about as clean as when I leave! Unfortunately, that’s not going to be an easy task, but I’m up to the challenge. So, here I go, off to find things to minimize…
(30 minutes later…)
Okay, so there aren’t any pictures in this post, partly because they’d be pretty boring and partly because I’m not sure I’m quite “there” with my efforts. Tonight, I got rid of boxes. I don’t mean boxes of stuff, I mean boxes from stuff. Part of it is the fact that the hubs and I do not agree on how long to keep the boxes from things you buy and partly receiving a lot more shipments recently than we ever have in the past. When you have to take stuff down two flights of stairs and across the parking lot, it gets easier to ignore how cluttered they make the apartment feel.
So, I got to work on the boxes. I broke all of them down, except the largest one, which I used to carry the rest of the boxes. When that was done, I was feeling on a roll, so I started cleaning the dining room. In some alternate reality, I have this image in my mind that someday it will be a playroom/office rather than catch-all/office. We don’t have the table out here because it’d have to go in a really dumb place to look right, so we just leave it in the kitchen.
I’m thinking about taking down the one bag of clutter (on top of the boxes) and then see what else I can get done tonight! Since hubs’ Friday is today, maybe I can get some real work done tonight and sleep in tomorrow! Of course, that would mean having Bubba up all day to destroy what I do tonight, but hey, at least it’d be clean for one night!
