I used to think people who said that putting your dreams to the universe were insane. How could it possibly work? How many times did I put a wish out there in passing and nothing came from it? And then, I bought a graphic online, knowing exactly what website I would use it for, without ever having talked to the owner of the site. Less than a month later, he contacted me on the referral of a client who knew nothing about the image sitting on my computer, and I redesigned his site.
I told one of my best friends about what happened, and she told me about The Secret. I was still skeptical, but enough of a believer to buy the book. Everything made so much sense! Put out the positive energy to the universe and watch it come back to you. Visualize yourself where you want to be and you will be there.
How many times have you been in a bad mood and it seemed like things just kept going downhill? Seriously, I’m not the only one who gets that way, am I? On the other hand, when I’m in a funk (as opposed to the times when it’s an actual depression low) I can get myself out of it and turn things around by refusing to let the negative energy win.
Since that first experience, I have had the courage to hand my dreams over to the universe on a few occasions. I’ve done things I never would have thought possible. I have resolved to do what I needed to do to advance my business with no clear plan for the steps to get me where I needed to be, but once I made that commitment, it somehow all fell together.
Most recently, I bought a ticket to Blogher in August. I’ve dreamed of going since I started blogging but there were always bricks in the shape of excuses, building a wall between me and that dream. This week, I decided that it’s time. I took the sledgehammer of confidence and started breaking away at the wall.
Within 24 hours, I found a great deal on a ticket, a traveling companion, roommates at the event hotel and there was a clear plan for how we’re going to tackle the logistics and cost of getting there. We created a blog that we’re both having fun with, Blogging is a Trip, which will become a way to share our travels, both blogging and personal.
It’s going to be the ultimate blogging trip and we can’t wait! The last time we traveled together wasn’t flawless, but it was DEFINITELY a blast and we can’t wait to do it again! The universe is now has our destiny and we WILL be in New York come August!
